THIS WAS draw number seven in Scarva Rangers’ current league campaign but there was nothing magnificent about it.

The visitors squandered a host of gilt edged opportunities during Saturday’s trip to Moira. They ought to have won the game comfortably but wayward finishing meant they were forced, yet again, to settle for a single point when three were well within their grasp.

Rangers goalkeeper James Clarke needed all of his agility to complete the terrific save that thwarted hosts Moira Albion in the first half.

His only other duties in the opening 45 minutes were to pick the ball out of his net after the home side broke the deadlock and to take Scarva’s goal kicks. In the second half his involvement was confined to goal kicks, such was Rangers superiority.

In the opening minutes of the game striker Alex Hammond headed against the woodwork from close range and Stuart Adamson fired a shot against the post as Scarva piled on the pressure.

Gareth Fulton then drew the Albion keeper and slid the ball across the box to Mark Bicker but the normally deadly striker sent his shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

The second half was a similar story of Scarva domination but they had to wait until the closing stages of the game before the equaliser finally arrived.

Centre half Gareth Dillon met a Ryan Dodds corner with an emphatic header that sent the Albion net bulging.

Man of the Match – Gareth Dillon, a flawless performance in the heart of the visiting defence and the all important equalising goal makes the MoM award a no brainer.
