DONACLONEY RESERVES 3 SCARVA RANGERS RESERVES 3
A late equaliser earned Scarva Rangers’ Reserve side a share of the spoils at Dromore Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Player manager Mo Brown rescued his side with minutes to go when he met a dangerous Danny Cullen free kick with an emphatic header at the back post.
Scarva took a first half lead, a shot from the left helped into his own net by a Donacloney defender. Rangers enjoyed the greater number of attacking opportunities in the opening 45 minutes but couldn’t build on their one goal lead.
A fantastic save by the home keeper robbed Gareth Anderson of a certain goal while at the other end James Clarke saved superbly to keep Scarva’s slender lead intact.
It was wiped out early in the second half when Stephen Patton conceded a penalty that was clinically converted by the grateful hosts.
Scarva regained their lead when Gary Dodds headed home a brilliant Wes Baird cross but Donacloney came back for a second time with a strike from distance and then went ahead for the first time in the game with another long range effort.
A game Scarva appeared likely to win had turned into a game they seemed destined to lose. Then Brown took centre stage and secured the point his side deserved.
Best for Scarva Rangers Reserves were Wes Baird and Danny Cullen.
